The materials to be processed must be free of dust and grease, and the substrates must also be dry and stable. The tape acts as a sealant and not as a force-fit connection. On highly porous and highly absorbent substrates such as concrete, plaster, untreated steel and raw wood, as well as where the tape overlaps, we recommend pre-treating the substrate with ISOCELL adhesive primers. The OMEGA PLASTO corner must be bonded over the entire surface. If standing water (e.g. joints, edges, overlaps, etc.) or temporary standing water is to be expected, an additional coat of OMEG PoBit sealing paste is recommended. (HFA 2281/2019/G- BF)

Butyl and bitumen tapes have a high dead weight. When installing in overhanging areas, e.g. ceilings, cantilevers, soffits, where gravity acts directly on the tape, it must be secured mechanically. Edges can be finished very well without voids using the AIRSTOP RAK pressure roller. On rough, uneven surfaces, full-surface adhesion can be achieved with the soft AIRSTOP ROLL pressure roller made of cellular rubber.

Processing as a second water-bearing layer

The OMEGA PLASTO corner can be used for both left and right corners in the area of the second water-bearing level. The information in the respective product data sheets must also be observed. There must be a minimum outward slope of 5°. The slope can be created directly on the substructure.

The surfaces and materials to be bonded must be free of dust and grease. In addition, it must be ensured that the substrates are dry and stable. On highly porous and absorbent substrates, we recommend pre-treatment with ISOCELL bonding primers.

First, line the lower window reveal with OMEGA PLASTO tape. To do this, remove the narrow liner and attach the tape to the lower part of the window frame without tension. Now remove the second, wider liner and press the adhesive surface of the tape onto the lower window reveal, working from the centre and working your way to the left and right. Any excess material can simply be cut off, although a small overlap on the outside is recommended as a drip edge or for the subsequent attachment of plaster profiles. The overlapping areas of the tape must be pre-treated with ISOCELL adhesive primer before bonding.

The OMEGA PLASTO CORNERS are then inserted precisely into the prepared corner areas and carefully bonded to the substrate and the OMEGA PLASTO tape that has already been laid. Care must be taken to ensure that the installation is tension-free and void-free in order to guarantee a permanently functional second water-bearing layer. The areas of the following overlaps must be prepared again with ISOCELL adhesive primer.

Starting from the horizontal sealing level, the OMEGA PLASTO tape is pulled up the reveals without tension by at least 6 cm (depending on requirements). Using the AIRSTOP RAK pressure squeegee, the tape must be pressed down over the entire surface without leaving any gaps, especially in the transition area to the OMEGA PLASTO CORNER, in order to prevent leaks.
