Processing guideline

Quality of substrate

Surfaces must be even, smooth, clean and free from dust, oil and grease. Concrete substrates must be even, smooth and set sufficiently. Use on rough concrete surfaces can result in damage to the aluminium composite. Depending on the condition of the substrate and the requirements, the substrates can be pre-treated with UNI XL Primer Spray or UNI Primer Spray.
For a bonded roof construction (all layers bonded) it is absolutely necessary to use UNI XL Primer Spray or UNI Primer Spray on concrete and wooden substrates. This also applies when OMEGA ALUBIT SK Vapour Barrier is pulled up high on the parapet.
Longitudinal and transverse butt joints must be carried out with overlaps of min. 8 cm.

Quality of substrate

Joints / upstands an edges

Overlaps, joints and edges must be carefully carried out and sealed airtight. The OMEGA ALUBIT SK Vapour Barrier must be continued at least to the upper edge of the thermal insulation and sealed airtight.

Note

OMEGA ALUBIT SK Vapour Barrier may also be used for a limited period as temporary protection during construction. When greater differences in temperature or high stress on the membrane due to humidity levels are anticipated, joints must be additionally secured with AIRSTOP ULTRA. Similarly, lengthwise, after max. 12 m there must be a joint with overlap + OMEGA AB Aluminium Tape. In Austria, for horizontal ceilings and use category K2 and K3 the vapour barrier must meet at least E-ALGV-4, E-KV-4, E-KV-5 (OMEGA ALUBIT SK Vapour Barrier is not possible, see ÖNORM 3691 Tab. 2). This can be avoided with a minimum 2 % slope (after deflection) of the structural ceiling.

The normative requirements in the respective country must be observed!
